California Cannabis Licensees Will Get Extensions On Their Provisional Permits
On Thursday, 6/27/2019, California legislature finally approved a budget trailer bill that will extend the provisional business licenses for cannabis companies. Licenses with the provisionals will now have until 2020 to apply for their annual licenses.
The measure, Assembly Bill 97, was approved easily by the assembly on a 57-11 vote after it passed the Senate on Monday. The bill now heads to Gov. Gavin Newsom, who is expected to sign it.
This was a big issue for the cannabis industry as many cannabis businesses ran the risks of their temporary permits expiring. At the same time the State was completely backlogged in issuing the annual licenses.
