Cali’s Black Market Targeting New York

Politico recently reported that genuine marijuana products are getting imported from California to New York. This illicit market is focused on dominating the legal space in New York, and this is chasing back legitimate companies that had wanted to invest in the region’s emerging marketplace.

“Everybody seems to be selling cannabis, and until there’s enforcement, there’s really no concern of a penalty,” explained Owen Martinetti of the Cannabis Association of New York. He is personally focusing on getting more vigorous civil enforcement throughout the state. “If there’s already competition and it’s not enforced, it kinda begs the question, are [the regulated stores] really set up for success?”
