New Study Reveals CBD Might Relieve Some Schizophrenia Symptoms

A new study suggests that cannabis may help decrease some adverse symptoms associated with schizophrenia. But, it’s not an alternative to medical treatment and smoking cannabis with a high concentration of THC could exacerbate symptoms of schizophrenia or increase the likelihood of developing it.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is among the cannabinoids of cannabis. CBD oil has little or none of the chemical tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is the most psychoactive component in cannabis, producing euphoria or a “high.”

Although research into CBD for schizophrenia has shown promise, most studies are inadequate or of poor quality. In addition, no research has definitively shown that CBD can treat schizophrenia or is an effective treatment option over antipsychotics.

It’s essential to treat schizophrenia by using the treatment prescribed by a doctor, including antipsychotics. This has the potential to stop the condition from worsening and enhance long-term success. If someone wants to consider supplementing treatments with CBD, discussing this idea with a physician is essential.
